Meet the Doctor, Dentist Dr. Kevin Cebrynski, Scottsdale, Arizona

Ever wonder how your dentist got started, and why? Dr. Kevin B. Cebrynski explains how he got into dentistry and why he likes his job in this report.

When Dr. Cebrynski was signing up for college, he had to choose a major. He chose dentistry, because it had “good pay and good hours.” And it was better than digging ditches (something he had done in high school). He signed up for the pre-dentistry program, and it kicked off his career. Along the way, he got advanced training and has become a prosthodontist.

Now, his work involves the repair and reconstruction of his patients’ mouths. He replaces missing teeth, sometimes with a prosthetic device that replaces all of a patient’s teeth, or perhaps a crown, maybe an implant. Implants are a big part of his work. Whether it’s a small problem or a complete replacement, Dr. Cebrynski gets the job done.

The most rewarding part of Dr. Cebrynski’s work comes when he is finished with a case. “Someone who has been a dental cripple for years can now function properly and smile, and all they do is smile, because they haven’t done that for twenty years.” Sometimes, they walk out the door crying tears of joy. Days like those are great for the patients and great days for Dr. Cebrynski. He tells of one patient who got a lot of repair to the front of her mouth, and later said, “All I do now is smile.”

It is also rewarding to give a patient the ability to eat normally when eating normally has not been possible for years. Instead of eating mush, “Now they can go out and have a salad or a steak.”

Dr. Cebrynski’s philosophy of practice is to focus first of all on restoring a patient’s mouth to proper functioning. Every repair is probably a cosmetic improvement. But function comes first: “Giving patients the ability to function properly is really what prosthodontics is.”

Dr. Kevin B. Cebrynski, who practices at Cebrynski Rehabilitative Dentistry, Scottsdale, Arizona, is a University residency trained prosthodontist. He completed his training at the University of Tennessee and the Medical College of Georgia. Prosthodontists are one of the eight recognized specialties by the American Dental Association whose focus is on the restoration and replacement of teeth. Dr. Cebrynski has been practicing both fixed and removable prosthodontics in Scottsdale for more than 19 years and has performed thousands of procedures to improve smiles. He continues his education and training on an ongoing basis. Sleep Better TV is a featured network of Sequence Media Group.
