Process of Treating Sleep Apnea, With Dr. Stephen Poss, Practical Sleep Solutions, Brentwood, Franklin, Nashville, Tennessee

For patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea, Dr. Stephen Poss, a dentist in Brentwood, Tennessee with Practical Sleep Solutions, will get a copy of the patient's sleep study and prescription from the referring physician.  He does a complete TMJ exam to make sure the jaw is suitable for an oral appliance and a 3D scan to make sure there's no airway obstructions.  He will also start with an impression of the patient's mouth to get an accurate bite.

Dr. Poss communicates with the referring physician so they know what is going on with their patient.  After the patient gets their oral appliance, they will then fill out questionnaires on how it's working at home.  The bed partner will also complete a questionnaire about the patient's sleep habits using the oral appliance.  Dr. Poss likes to see how things are going as it relates to the patient's snoring and if their energy level has increased, among other things.  He likes to track this for the first few weeks and make changes as needed.  Lastly, he will request a final sleep study from the physician.

Dr. Stephen Poss, a dentist in Brentwood, Tennessee with Poss Dental Designs, is a leading sleep expert with Sleep Better TV, providing online, on-demand, sleep breathing disorder video content.  Sleep Better TV is a featured network of Sequence Media Group.
