Dr. Steve Lawson, of the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of Winnipeg, says that first-time patients can expect to sit down and talk with Dr. Lawson about their concerns. Dr. Lawson listens to the patient to make sense out of what he can do for them.
It is then a matter of stepping in and making sure they understand what's going on, what he can do and how he can help them. Dr. Lawson says he will then do an examination and take images to find out what the problem is and get an accurate diagnosis. Dr. Lawson uses a non-surgical, conservative approach, using an orthopedic appliance for sleep disorder breathing. "Time spent with the patient is all about the patient," Dr. Lawson says.
